'KEENE, N.H. 10/19/02 - The Keene State College field hockey
team moved into second place in the Little East Conference with a
4-0 shutout victory over Worcester State College in Keene on
Saturday.
KSC improves to 10-6 (5-2 LEC) while Worcester State, which
knocked the Owls out of the LEC Tournament last year, falls to 8-5
(5-3 LEC).
The Owls, who got goals from four different players, scored
twice in each half.
Annie Timson (Derry, N.H.) and Nichole Dallas (Marlow, N.H.)
scored following penalty corner plays to give Keene State a 2-0
lead. Timson now has a team-leading nine goals this season.
Melissa Harnch-Smith (Newburyport, MA.) assisted on both goals.
Michelle McInerney (Hampton, N.H.) and Michelle LeBlanc (North
Promfret, Vt.) added insurance goals in the second half.
Amy Carroll (Brunswick, Me) (three saves) and Michelle Codding
(Jerico, Vt.) (0 saves) combined on the shutout in goal for KSC.
Alisha Bates made six saves for the Lancers.
Keene State host Westfield State on Wednesday (6 p.m.).
