'BEVERLY, MA. 11/26/02 – Derek Swenson
(Attleboro, MA.) had 15 points and Matt Wheeler (Shrub Oak, N.Y.)
and Sean Sullivan (Athol, MA.) added 12 points each to lead the
Keene State College men's basketball team to a 82-68 win over
Endicott College in a non-conference game played Tuesday in
Beverly, MA.
Keene State remains undefeated (3-0) while Endicott is winless
in its three games.
Pulling away in spurts against Endicott in the first half, the
Owls took a 51-31 halftime lead. The Powergulls made several
runs to get back into the game in the second half cutting the lead
to 10 points on two occasions. Regrouping, KSC pulled away
for the 14-point victory.
"I thought we played well in stretches," said KSC coach Rob
Colbert. "We forced a lot of turnover with our press and were
able to convert them into baskets."
"This was our first road test for this team," Colbert
added. They're also other distractions with the
holidays. But I thought we played very hard. I was just
frustrated that we weren't able to finish them off."
Playing in his hometown of Beverly, MA., Chris Timson added 11
points while Wheeler top the team in rebounds with nine.
Colbert got strong contributions from several of his freshman
including Sullivan who scored his 12 points in a span of three and
a half minutes in the second half.
Jason Currier (Hampsted, N.H.) had 15 points and James Leveque
(Dorchester, MA.) finished with nine points and nine rebounds to
lead Endicott, playing for first-year coach Mike Plansky.
