Owls Overtake Endicott 82-68

'BEVERLY, MA. 11/26/02  –  Derek Swenson (Attleboro, MA.) had 15 points and Matt Wheeler (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) and Sean Sullivan (Athol, MA.) added 12 points each to lead the Keene State College men's basketball team to a 82-68 win over Endicott College in a non-conference game played Tuesday in Beverly, MA.

Keene State remains undefeated (3-0) while Endicott is winless in its three games.

Pulling away in spurts against Endicott in the first half, the Owls took a 51-31 halftime lead.  The Powergulls made several runs to get back into the game in the second half cutting the lead to 10 points on two occasions.  Regrouping, KSC pulled away for the 14-point victory.

"I thought we played well in stretches," said KSC coach Rob Colbert.  "We forced a lot of turnover with our press and were able to convert them into baskets."

"This was our first road test for this team," Colbert added.  They're also other distractions with the holidays.  But I thought we played very hard.  I was just frustrated that we weren't able to finish them off."

Playing in his hometown of Beverly, MA., Chris Timson added 11 points while Wheeler top the team in rebounds with nine.

Colbert got strong contributions from several of his freshman including Sullivan who scored his 12 points in a span of three and a half minutes in the second half.

Jason Currier (Hampsted, N.H.) had 15 points and James Leveque (Dorchester, MA.) finished with nine points and nine rebounds to lead Endicott, playing for first-year coach Mike Plansky.
