'PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Freshman Rachael Nimon (Augusta, ME) scored
the only goal
of the game midway through the first half Friday afternoon, and
the University
of Southern ME held on for a 1-0 upset victory over Keene State
College in
the second semifinal of the Little East Conference Field Hockey
Tournament at
Plymouth State College's Arold Field.
The third-seeded Huskies, 14-6 overall, move on to the LEC
Championship game
Saturday at 12 noon against top seed and tournament host
Plymouth State.
Second-seeded Keene State drops to 14-8.
Nimon connected on her ninth goal of the season with 10:31
showing on the
first-half clock, finishing off a scramble to the right of the
goalie. Southern
ME had a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal, and a 7-4 margin in
penalty corners,
but neither team was able to score the rest of the way.
The verdict helped USM avenge a 3-2 loss to the Owls on Oct. 12
in Keene.

make just one
save but earned her seventh shutout of the year. Senior
Amy Carroll (Brunswick,
ME) made five saves for the Owls.
Saturday's 12 noon championship game between PSC and USM is a
rematch of the
Oct. 2 contest, when the Panthers pulled out a 1-0 decision in
Gorham, ME.
The LEC Champion receives an automatic berth into the NCAA
Division III
Tournament.
