'KEENE, N.H. 12/1/02 – Tournament MVP
Julie Tardif (Atkinson, N.H.) had a game-high 21 points to lead the
Keene State College women's basketball team to a 79-56 victory over
Western New England College in the championship game of the 7th
Annual KSC Holiday Tournament held Sunday in Keene, N.H.
KSC (4-1) has won the tournament six out of the seven years it
has been played.
Selected to the all-tournament team, Andrea Arsenault (Dover,
N.H.), and Rebekka Hopkins (Oxford, MA.) had 14 and 11 points
respectively while Mary Crawford (Mt. Holly, Vt.) also finished in
double-figures with 12 points. Hayley Alaimo (Ellington, CT) pulled
down a team-high 10 rebounds.
Arsenault scored the last four baskets of the first half to give
KSC a 30-22 lead at the break. The Owls open the second half
with a 16-5 run to pull ahead 46-27 with 14:03 to play.
Stacey Morse (Lebanon, N.H.) had six points, and Crawford hit three
three-pointers in the run.
Jamie Carney (Orleans, MA.) and Shelly Everson (Plainville, CT)
had 11 points each and Lisa Masella (Newtown, CT), an
all-tournament team member, finished with six points and 10
rebounds for WNEC (3-1), which lost its first game of the season.
Named to the all-tournament team, Donna Zwemke (Ware, MA.) had a
game-high 19 points and Kathy Ward (Fall River, MA.) finished with
16 points to lead Worcester State (3-2) to a 71-46 victory over ME
Ft. Kent (3-3) in the tournament's consolation game.
The Lancers, who broke open the game midway in the first half,
built up a 36-18 lead at halftime. Heidi Fisher (Centerville,
N.B.) led UMFK with 10 points.
