NORTH DARTMOUTH 2/16/02 - The Keene State College women's
basketball team completed its regular season with a 64-51 Little
East Conference victory over UMA-Dartmouth at the Tripp Center on
Saturday.
KSC, which improves to 15-9 (8-6 LEC), will be the fourth seed
in the upcoming LEC Tournament and will host UMA-Boston in a first
round game on Tuesday (7 p.m.) at Spaulding Gym. UMB secured the
fifth seed with its 80-66 win over Western Connecticut on Saturday.
Sixth seed Western CT will face third seed Plymouth State in the
other opening round match up.
Hayley Alaimo (Ellington, CT) had a game-high 17 points, hitting
all five of her three-points shots, and Erika Forsberg (Laconia,
NH) finished with 12 points to lead the Owls over the Corsairs.
Forsberg will enter Tuesday's game needing five points to reach the
1,000-point career milestone.
The Owls, who opened up a 38-23 lead at half time, also got a
fine performances from Aly Araque (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) (nine
points and 10 rebounds) and point guard Cathy Mechare (Falls
Village, CT), who finished with six points and seven assists.
The Owls hit 11 of 15 three-points shots in the game. Carla
Ferreira had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead UMA-Dartmouth, which
completes its season with a 4-20 (1-13 LEC) record.
