Owl Softball Team Splits With Springfield College

SPRINGFIELD, MA. 3/28/02 - The Keene State College softball team split a non-conference double-header against Springfield College on Thursday in Springfield.  The Owls won the opener 6-1 while the Pride came back to take the nightcap 8-2.

Abby Collis (Wynantskill, N.Y.) hit her first home run of the season and Melissa Zimmerman (Leyden, MA.) tossed six strong innings to lead Keene State in the opener. Zimmerman struck out four and gave up just four hits and one run to improve her record to 3-0.   Jan Rissacher (Voorheesville, N.Y) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. 

Brianne Pearson (Brockton, MA.) drilled a three-run homer to lift Springfield College to the win in the second game. KSC led 2-0 after four innings before the Pride erupted for four runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Katie Thompson (Stratham, N.H.) gave up five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings on the mound to take the loss. She is now 3-1 on the season.

Adria Reynolds (Portsmouth, NH) had two hits for KSC.

Keene State (9-3-1) will travel to R.I. College for its first Little East games of the season on Saturday.  Springfield College evened its record at 6-6.
