PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Little East Conference recently announced their postseason awards for the 2026 season and four Owls were recognized from their performance this season, with
Elyse Picard headlining the Owls with a First Team All-LEC selection from a dominant junior season.
Elyse Picard, a junior centerfielder from Southington, Connecticut, became the first Owl to be named to the First Team All-LEC since Cassie Woods in 2019 after a record-setting junior season for the Owls this year. Picard set the new single season program record for highest on base percentage with a .569 OB%, breaking the previous record by .017, and leading the LEC by .055, while also tying for fourth in program history for highest slugging percentage with a .768 (ranking second in the LEC on the year), and leading the conference in OPS by .079, with a 1.337 OPS. Picard reached base in 35 of 37 (94.6%) of games on the season as she was only one of two Owls to play in every game in 2026. Her .465 batting average in her junior season ranked second in the conference (behind first by just .006), which ranked the fourth-best average in a season in program history, from her 46 hits (tied for the eighth-most in the LEC on the year) which included the second-most doubles in the LEC in 2026 and tied for the second-most doubles in a season in program history, with 15 doubles, and five home runs, tied for the fifth-most in the LEC on the year. Picard ranked second in both runs batted in and runs scored in the LEC in 2026 as she scored 41 runs herself (eighth-most in a single season in program history) and drove 39 runs in to tie teammate
Abby Weiterman for the second most in the conference and tied for the sixth-most in a single season in program history. Picard's junior season was not just filled with hits as her record-setting OBP and near record-setting RBI season was also due to her LEC-high and tied for the second-most in a season in program history, 26 walks drawn (to go with six hit by pitches, ranking tied for seventh in the LEC), while also leading the conference in sacrifice flies, with six. Picard drove in four runs in a game four separate games on the season, but her best game at the plate in 2026 was in the Owls' game two win over Eastern Connecticut State University where she went 3-for-3 with a home run, a pair of doubles (tied for the third-most doubles in a game in the LEC on the season), while driving in four runs, scoring two herself, and drawing a walk and hit by pitch in the victory. In her six games behind the plate, Picard ranked third in the LEC in runners caught stealing percentage, gunning down 27.3% of runners.
Following a selection to the LEC All-Rookie team in 2025,
Abby Weiterman, a catcher from West Bend, Wisconsin, was named to the Second Team All-LEC in her sophomore season for the Owls in 2026. Playing in all but one game on the season, Weiterman reached base in 31 of 36 games (86.1%) as she ranked second for the Owls among qualified hitters in batting average (.363), OPS (.905), SLG% (.478), and OB% (.427). Her 41 hits, seven doubles, and 54 total bases were also the second-most on the team, to go with her first two collegiate home runs hit this season. To go with her 14 walks, Weiterman scored 24 runs, while tying Picard with 39 runs batted in to tie for the second-most in the LEC on the season, along with tying for the sixth-most in a single season in program history. Weiterman's best game at the plate on the season game in KSC's 15-12 comeback win over Smith College in game one where she went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles (tied for third-most doubles in a game in the LEC on the season), while driving in the second-most runs in a single game in the LEC on the year with six RBIs to go with two runs scored herself in the victory. Behind the dish, Weiterman threw out five runners over the season, the fourth-most runners thrown out in 2026.
Anna Gostkowski, a freshman outfielder from Meriden, Connecticut, earned a selection to the LEC All-Rookie Team from her standout freshman year in right field for the Owls. Starting in 36 of 37 games on the season for the Owls, Gostkowski batted .299 with 35 hits, including five doubles and each a triple and home run. Typically batting around the top of the Owls' lineup, Gostkowski reached base often and scored the second-most runs on the team on the season, scoring 33 (tied for the seventh-most in the LEC on the year), while also driving in 15 herself. To go with her 35 hits, Gostkowski also recorded the second-most walks on the team and tied for the second-most walks in the LEC on the year with 20, as she reached base in 77.8% of games (28 of 36) and made other teams pay as she went 18-for-21 (85.7%) on steal attempts, tied with her head coach, Haley Chandler (2010), for the ninth-most steals in a season in program history (and fifth-most in the LEC on the year). Gostkowski got off to a hot start at the plate for KSC over her first two collegiate games as she drove in her first run on her first collegiate hit against Augsburg and followed it up going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, including a three-run home run in KSC's 5-4 win over Salem State University. Gostkowski's best game of the year came in the Owls' first game against Middlebury College as the Owls handed the Panthers their second loss of the season (after being 15-1 previously) as she drove in five runs from a 2-for-4 day, while also drawing a pair of walks at the dish. In right field on the season, Gostkowski put up a clean sheet, not recording an error on her 27 putouts in the field for the Owls.
Cainen Avery, a freshman shortstop from Swanzey, New Hampshire, joins Gostkowski representing the Owls on the LEC All-Rookie Team after a great year at short for KSC while starting in all 37 games on the season. Avery recorded 27 hits over her first year as an Owl, including four doubles and a pair of triples for a .257 average. To go with drawing the third-most walks on the team and tied for the fifth-most walks in the LEC, with 19, Avery also drove in 17 runs, while scoring 19 herself. Avery's best game at the plate on the season came in the Owls' win over Franklin & Marshall College as she went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs, in part of her four consecutive games driving a run in, averaging 1.5 RBIs per game over the span. On defense, Avery had the most assisted putouts on the team as she recorded 111 assists on the season at shortstop, also ranking the second-most in the LEC and just six behind first place.
