'PLYMOUTH STATE, N.H. 9/28/02 - Sophomore Amanda Gutowski
(Conway, N.H.) scored the only goal of the game with 25 seconds
remaining in the first overtime Saturday, leading the Plymouth
State College field hockey team to a 1-0 triumph over rival Keene
State College at Arnold Field.
The win improves PSC to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in LEC games, while
the Owls drop to 6-4 and 2-1 in conference play. The Panthers
have now won 12 consecutive LEC games, dating back to last year's
loss at Keene State.
Plymouth State had a 26-6 advantage in shots on goal, including
a 22-4 margin in regulation play. PSC finally got the
game-winner in the first extra frame with Gutowski deflecting home
a shot by Kristie Wheeler.
Senior Amy Carroll (Brunswick, ME) recorded 17 saves for
KSC. Ellen Ward made five saves to post her fourth shutout
for PSC.
Keene State returns home to host Middlebury College (6 p.m.) on
Wednesday.
