'KEENE, NH 9/7/02 - Sophomore Kaitlyn Henley's (Somers, N.Y.) overtime goal on a corner opportunity enabled the Keene State College field hockey team to open its season with a 3-2 victory over Bates College, Saturday at Owl Stadium Complex. 

Annie Timson (Derry, NH) scored just 50 seconds into the game to give KSC a 1-0 lead.  Her second of the game, early in the second half extended the Owls' advantage to 2-0.

Julia Price (Mansfield, MA.) and Lori Jessup (Hatboro, PA) netted second half goals for Bates to force the overtime period.

Henley's game-winner, during the seven-on-seven sudden death period, came on a rebound following a shot by Nichole Dallas (Marlow, NH).  Dallas finished the game with a pair of assists.

Both KSC goalie Amy Carroll (Brunswick, Me) and Bates netminder Lindsay Gary (Del Mar, CA) had 13 saves each.
