KSC Men Fall to Clark 79-68

KEENE, N.H. 1/23/03 - Dave McNamara (Worcester, MA.) had 31 points and Trevor Walker (Milford, MA.) finished with 25 points, including seven three-pointers, to lead Clark University to a 79-68 victory over Keene State College in a non-conference men's basketball game played Thursday night at Spaulding Gym.

Chris Timson (Beverly, MA.) led the Owls with 11 points.  Alphonse Michalski (Northampton, MA.), Derek Swenson (Attleboro, MA.) and Harley Davis (Newburyport, MA.) had 10 points each.  Kyle Purinton (Northwood, N.H.) had a team-high nine rebounds to go along with seven points.

A 12-0 spurt at the end of the first half enabled KSC to take 39-31 lead into the locker room.   Clark took the lead behind the three-point shooting of Walker.  His trey tied the scored 54-all with 8:41 to play. After Clark took a 62-56 lead, Keene State came back to tie the score 62-all on a free throw by Timson with 3:21 to go.

McNamara scored eight points on an 11-2 run that put Clark up 73-64 with just over a minute to play.

It was the third loss in the last four games for Keene State (11-4). Clark (11-4) has won six out of its last seven games. It was the first meeting between the two teams since the 1947-48 season.

Associate coach Brian Pickering directed the Owls in place of Rob Colbert, whose mother passed away on Wednesday.

Keene State returns to Little East play when they host UMass-Boston on Saturday (3 p.m.).
