(Londonderry, N.H.) had 17 points and Anthony Oglesby (Brooklyn,
N.Y.) added 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the Plymouth State
College men's basketball team to a 65-62 Little East Conference
victory over Keene State College at Spaulding Gym on Tuesday.
Keene State falls to 12-5 (5-3 LEC) while Plymouth State
College, winners of three straight, improves to 13-4 and 6-2 in the
LEC.
Chris Timson (Beverly, MA.) had a game high 19 points and 10
rebounds to lead the Owls. Derek Swenson (Attleboro, MA.)
finished with 13 points.
The game was decided in the final minutes of play. Ryan
Chicoine (Gorham, Me) basket gave PSC a 63-60 lead with 1:54 to
play. After Timson got the Owls to within one (63-62) with a
reverse lay-up, Chicoine hit a pair of key free throws to push the
Panthers' lead back up to three (65-62) with seconds to play.
KSC had several chances to tie the game. After Sean
Sullivan (Athol, MA.) missed a three-pointer attempt, Swenson
grabbed the rebound for KSC. Following a time-out, KSC however
tuned the ball over when Bennett Pawlusiak (Manchester, NH) stepped
on the sideline.
The Owls got the ball back one more time when Timson stole the
inbound pass, but Swenson's throw-in was intercepted by Nick
Pellotte (Bingham, Me.) and PSC hung on for the win.
KSC shot 15% percent (2-13) from three-point range and hit just
16 of 29 (.55%) from the line in the game.
