'MIDDLEBURY, VT. 10/1/03 - Keene State saw its record dip to 5-4
with a 4-0 shutout loss to fourth ranked Middlebury College at
Middlebury, Vt. on Wednesday night.
Middlebury, which improves to 7-0, ties its best start to
a season since1998 NCAA Championship team opened with the same
mark. as they scored three first half goals to pick up a 4-0
win over Keene State.
The Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 half time lead. Channing
Weymouth (Plymouth, NH) opened the scoring just 3:10 into the game
as she took a nice feed from Missy Krempa (Johnstown, NY) after a
penalty corner and converted. Krempa scored a goal of her own
at 21:35 as she blasted home a shot from the outside. Ashley
Lyddane (Greenwich, Conn.) made it a 3-0 game as she snapped a shot
high into the cage with 3:05 left in the first half. Weymouth
scored her second of the game, and the second half's only goal with
4:25 remaining.
Meg McGillen made five saves in goal for the shutout, while
Michelle Codding (Jericho, VT) made eight stops for Keene
State.
KSC is at Eastern Connecticut University for a Little East
Conference game on Saturday (1 p.m.).
