KSC Field Hockey Blanks USM 3-0

'GORHAM, Maine - Senior Tanya Strong (Hatfield, Mass.) scored the decisive goal and added an assist as the Keene State College Owls remained unbeaten in Little East Conference play with a 3-0 triumph over the University of Southern Maine Huskies on Saturday afternoon at the Paula Hodgdon Field.

With the win Keene State improved to 8-5 overall and 6-0 in the conference, while Southern Maine slipped to 7-5 and 3-2 in the league. Southern Maine returns to action on Monday, when it entertains Worcester State, while Keene State will host New England College on Tuesday.

Strong collected a loose ball to the left of the goalmouth and lifted a short shot that slipped between the pads of University of Southern Maine senior goalie Jessie Superchi (Campton, N.H.) in the eighth minute of play.

Keene State doubled its advantage at 46:13, when Strong feathered a pass from the right end line to the center of the crease where freshman forward Steph Georgevits (Concord, N.H.) ripped a shot into the back of the net.

Senior Nichole Dallas (Marlow, N.H.) scored on a penalty corner with an assist going to senior Nicole Lemire (New Milford, Conn.) at 68:33 to account for the 3-0 final score.

Keene State freshman Catlin Baril (Canton, Mass.) turned aside three shots to preserve the win, while Superchi also made three saves for the Huskies.
