'GORHAM, Maine - Senior Tanya Strong (Hatfield, Mass.) scored
the decisive goal and added an assist as the Keene State College
Owls remained unbeaten in Little East Conference play with a 3-0
triumph over the University of Southern Maine Huskies on Saturday
afternoon at the Paula Hodgdon Field.
With the win Keene State improved to 8-5 overall and 6-0 in the
conference, while Southern Maine slipped to 7-5 and 3-2 in the
league. Southern Maine returns to action on Monday, when it
entertains Worcester State, while Keene State will host New England
College on Tuesday.
Strong collected a loose ball to the left of the goalmouth and
lifted a short shot that slipped between the pads of University of
Southern Maine senior goalie Jessie Superchi (Campton, N.H.) in the
eighth minute of play.
Keene State doubled its advantage at 46:13, when Strong
feathered a pass from the right end line to the center of the
crease where freshman forward Steph Georgevits (Concord, N.H.)
ripped a shot into the back of the net.
Senior Nichole Dallas (Marlow, N.H.) scored on a penalty corner
with an assist going to senior Nicole Lemire (New Milford, Conn.)
at 68:33 to account for the 3-0 final score.
Keene State freshman Catlin Baril (Canton, Mass.) turned aside
three shots to preserve the win, while Superchi also made three
saves for the Huskies.
