'Worcester, MA. 10/18/03 -- The Keene State College field hockey
team posted a 4-1 victory against Worcester State College in Little
East Conference play on Saturday at John Coughlin Memorial Field in
Worcester, Mass.
WSC opened the scoring with 24:05 remaining in the first half on
a goal by sophomore forward Andrea McAllister (Leominster, MA). The
Owls evened the contest at one apiece with 17:45 remaining on an
unassisted goal by Kate Barnowski (Granville, MA). The first half
ended with the score tied 1-1.
KSC took control in the second half as Worcester State was
unable to produce anything offensively. The Owls scored 3 times
within a 9-minute period to cruise to victory.
Off of a penalty corner with 23:39 remaining in the second half,
Barnowski scored her second goal of the game on a feed from
sophomore midfielder Michelle McInerney (Hampton, NH). Five minutes
later, on another penalty corner, McInerney found the back of the
net off of a pass from Nicole Lemire (New Milford, CT). The Owls
finished off the offensive attack with an unassisted goal from
Nichole Garneau (Twin Mountain, NH) for a 4-1 final.
KSC improves to 11-5 overall, while the Lancers drop to 7-6 on
the season.
KSC goaltender Caitlin Baril (Mansfield, MA) turned aside 12
shots, while WSC goaltender Alisha Bates (Palmer) made eleven saves
in goal.
Keene State travels to Westfield State on Wednesday (7 p.m.)
