'PROVIDENCE , R.I. 10/7/03 - Keene State College dropped a
hard-fought five game Little East Conference women volleyball match
to R.I. College 3-2 in Providence on Tuesday.
After losing the first two games 16-30 and 25 -30, the Owls
rallied to take the next two contests 30-18 and 30-26. But
the Anchorwomen came back to win the decisive fifth game by a score
of 15-7.
Shelly Ellis (Hampton, N.H.) had a fine overall performance for
KSC with five kills, four blocks, three aces and 16 digs.
Stacey Kroon (Pembroke, Mass.) added 11 kills and 21 digs and Genna
Florkowski (East Northport, N.Y.) finished with 19 kills and 16
digs.
Keene State falls to 5-9 (1-4 LEC) while RIC improves to 9-9
(4-1 LEC).
Seniors Erica Poirer and Erin Miga led the Anchorwomen
with 12 kills each.
Keene State will be at Springfield College on Saturday (10 a.m.)
for the Tom Hay Invitational.
