WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. 11/30/03- The Keene State College
women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, a
70-56 setback to Williams College on the road at Williamstown,
Mass., on Sunday.
Keene State falls to 3-1 while Williams College (4-0) has yet to
lose this season.
Three Owl players scored in double figures; freshman Brianne
Barnes (Merrimack, N.H) led the team with 14 points, Sarah Begnoche
(Millville, Mass.) had 12 points and Bekka Hopkins (Oxford, Mass.)
finished with 10 points.
Trailing by just one point (14-13) in the first half, the Owls
had a six-minute scoring drought that enabled the Ephs to pull
away.
Williams, which took an 11-point lead (34-23) to the locker
room, extended its advantage to as many as 20 points in the second
half. KSC battled back to close the deficit to 12 points, but
could get no closer.
Margaret Miller had a game-high 23 points and Colleen Hession
finished with 16 points to lead Williams.
Keene State is at Amherst College on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
