'MIDDLETOWN, CONN. 12/13/03 - Josh Ferenc (Westmoreland, N.H.)
raced to a win in the 3,000-meter race and Ryan Gough (Billerica,
Mass.) finished first in the 1,500-meter event as Keene State
College opened up its indoor track season Saturday at the Wesleyan
University Track Invitational.
Ferenc, a senior, won the 3,000 with a time of 8:49.68 to finish
ahead of teammate Matt Haley (Middleton, Mass.) who was second at
8:53.25. Gough, who posted a time of 4:09.95 in the 1,500 was
also second in the 800-meters (2:02.67).
Laurie Yorgensen had a good first meet performance for the KSC
women's team. The junior from Wethersfield, Conn., won the
800-meters in a time of 2:24. 46. Karen Jordan (Enfield, N.H.) was
second (2:26.57).
Shannon O'Brien (Tilton, N.H.) place second in the 600-meters
(1:42.03), and Meg Matthews (Springfield, Mass.) was second in the
1,500 (5:14.61).
In field events, Nicole Geyselears (Cornwall Bridge, Conn.) was
second in the long jump (16'-3.75 "), Candace Brown (Londonderry,
N.H.) was fourth in the weight throw and Lynn Therrien (Rochester,
N.H.) took sixth in the shot-put (34'-11.75").
