KEENE, N.H. 12/13/03- Senior forward Andrea Arsenault (Dover,
N.H.) scored a season-high 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds
to lead the Keene State College women's basketball team to a 86-54
Little East Conference victory over UMass-Boston in Keene on
Saturday.
Halting a two game losing streak, KSC improves to 4-2 (1-0 LEC)
while UMB falls to 4-3 (0-2 LEC).
The Owls outscored the Beacons 15-5 over the final 3:44 of the
first half to take a 40-24 lead into the locker room.
UMB closed the deficit to 14 points (42-28) on a basket by
Lauren Bertolli (Danville, Vt.) early in the second half, but KSC
pulled away from there. Arenault hit a lay-up to push the lead to
25 (60-35) at the 12:04 mark.
Although each team struggled from the field, Keene State hit
23-of-25 shots from the line and caused 29 Beacon turnovers in the
game.
Bekka Hopkins (Oxford, Mass.) had 11 points and Stacey Morse
(Lebanon, N.H.) and Brianne Barnes (Merrimack, N.H.) finished with
10 points each to lead KSC, which scored a season-best 86 points.
Bertolini finished with 12 points; Kristen Reske (Duxbury,
Mass.) had 11 points, and Agata Matel (Dorchester, Mass.) chipped
in with 10 points for UMB.
Keene State is off until it travels to Phoenix, Arizona for the
Grand Canyon Classic when they face Wisconsin-Stout on Dec. 29.
