'KEENE, N.H. 2/1/03 – Junior forward
Chris Timson (Beverly, MA.) had a game-high 23 points to lead the
Keene State College men's basketball team to a 95-76 victory over
Southern ME in a Little east Conference game played Saturday in
Keene.
Keene State improved to 13-5 overall and 6-3 in the LEC while
Southern ME saw its record dip to 2-15 (1-8 LEC).
Alphonse Michalski (Northampton, MA.) had a fine overall game
for the Owls with 14 points, six rebounds and six assists. Brandon
Johanson (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) with a season-high 12 points and
Bennett Pawlusiak (Manchester, N.H.) with 10 points round out the
double-figures scorers for KSC. Derek Swenson (Attleboro,
MA.), the Owls' leading scorer, sat out the game with a groin and
hamstring injury.
Michalski's basket at the buzzer game KSC a 51-36 lead at the
break. USM got the lead down to 10 points (65-55) on a
three-pointer by Ryan Soucie (Caribou, Me.) at the 11:31
mark. Keene State put the game away with a 23-6 run that was
capped off a by a basket by Adam Gervias (Chelsea, Me.).
Quinn Fulcher (So. Royalston, Vt.) had 16 points and Mike
Francoeur (Somersworth, N.H.) added 15 points to lead the Huskies.
Former Owl and the LEC's second-leading scorer Jason Levecque
(Westbrook, Me) finished with 12 points.
KSC hosts Tufts on Tuesday (7:30 p.m.) at Spaulding Gym.
