'FORT MYERS, FLA. 3/21/03 – The Keene State College
softball team improved its spring week record to 7-2 with an 11-1
victory over Roger Williams University in Fort, Myers, Fla., on
Friday.
Sophomore Jennifer Smith (Salem, N.H.) tossed a complete game
(five innings) four-hitter to notch her second win of the
trip.
The Owls got all the runs they would need with a six-run first
inning. Amanda Foote (Hudson, N.H.) knocked in a run when she
hit a shot off the shortstop, and Kerry Marsh (Plainfield, N.H.)
had a two-run single to highlight the inning.
Freshman Abby Blanchette (Webster, N.H.) added a two-run home
run, her first collegiate round-tripper, in the third inning.
KSC banged out 12 hits in the game. Blanchette, Jan
Rissacher (Voorheesville, N.Y.) and Adria Reynolds (Portsmouth,
N.H.) had two hits each.
Later today, KSC will face New England College. The Owls
wrap up their trip with a game against Suffolk University on
Saturday.
