College collected 25 hits on the way to sweeping a Little East
Conference softball doubleheader against UMA-Boston on Friday.
Resuming a game that was washed out on Tuesday, KSC won the
first game 11-3 and took the nightcap 12-4.
Jennifer Norman (Penacook, N.H.) and Abby Blanchette (Webster,
N.H.) had solo home runs and Kerry Marsh (Meriden, N.H.) had two
hits and four RBIs in the opener. Nikki Foote (Hudson, N.H.)
also had two hits.
Meghan McLoughlin (Brattleboro, Vt.) improved her record to 4-1
with the pitching victory.
Caroline Kurkowski (Niskayuna, N.Y.) blasted a pair of home
runs, her third and fourth in the last two games, to lead KSC's 16
hit attack in the second game. The junior first baseman, who
finished with five RBIs, had a three-run shot in the first and
two-run round-tripper in the second inning.
Shauna Mullen (Hooksett, N.H.), Emily Crompton (Concord, N.H.),
and Abby Collis (Wynantskill, N.Y.) also went deep for the Owls,
who set a school record with five home runs in the game. Mullen
also added three RBIs.
Siobhan Lynch hit a solo home run for UMB (8-16-1, 1-10-1 LEC).
Katie Thompson (Stratham, N.H.) (4-1) got the pitching win.
Winners of six straight, including forfeit victories over
UMA-Dartmouth, KSC improves to 19-10 (7-5 LEC). They will be
at Southern ME on Sunday (1 p.m.).
