'AMHERST, MASS. 9/17/03 - The Keene State College women's
volleyball team had its three match winning streak snapped with a
3-0 loss at Amherst College on Wednesday. Games scores were 30-13,
30-11, and 30-15.
Keene State falls to 3-2 while Amherst (7-1) posted its seventh
straight victory.
Sophomore middle hitter Shelly Ellis (Hampton, N.H.) led KSC
with four kills, two aces, two blocks and 12 digs. Genna
Florkowski (East Northport, N.Y.) added three kills and 10 digs and
Nicole Geyselaers (Cornwall Bridge, Conn.) finished with four kills
and five blocks. First-year setter Corissa Widger (McGraw,
N.Y.) handed out 14 assists.
The Jeffs excelled on defense getting six bloclks from Lauren
Wong andf four from Ashley Pestotnik. Annie Hoeksma dished
out 35 assists and had seven aces to lead Amherst's offense.
Keene State hosts a Little East Round-Robin match this weekend
at Spaulding Gym. They open with a 7 p.m. match against rival
Plymouth State on Friday 7.p.m.
