'KEENE, N.H. 9/20/03 - Freshman Nichole Garneau (Carroll, N.H.)
had two goals to lift the Keene State College field hockey team to
a 4-0 Little East Conference shutout victory over Fitchburg State
at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.
Garneau's goals, 23 seconds apart in the second half, were her
third and fourth of the season.
Tanya Strong (Hatfield, Mass.) opened the scoring at 19:30 of
the first half on a pass from Kerrin Delaney (Centerville,
Mass.). Nichole Dallas (Marlow, N.H.) made it 2-0 when she
fired in a rebound four minutes into the second half. Garneau
wrapped up the scoring to give KSC (3-2, 1-0) its first LEC win of
the season.
Michelle Codding (Jericho, Vt.) (0 saves) and Catlin Baril
(Canton, Mass.) (one save) shared the shutout victory.
Christina Charron (Grafton, Mass.) made eight saves and Angela
Buffington (Carver, Mass.) made three saves for the Falcons (1-2,
0-1 LEC).
KSC is at Framingham State on Tuesday (3 p.m.).
