'FRAMINGHAM, MASS. 9/23/03 - Nichole Dallas' (Marlow,
N.H.) penalty stroke goal at the 4:23 mark of overtime gave Keene
State College a 2-1 Little East Conference field hockey victory
over Framingham State College on Tuesday.
It was the third straight win for KSC (4-2, 2-0), which remains
undefeated in the LEC. Framingham State falls to 0-2 (0-2
LEC).
After a scoreless first half, the two teams traded second half
goals. Elizabeth Britton gave the Rams a brief 1-0 lead,
before Tanya Strong (Hatfield, Mass.) tied it one minute later with
her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
The game remained tied until an infraction was called in the
circle when a defender kicked the ball and Dallas was awarded with
the penalty stroke. Dallas' game-winner was the second goal
of the season for the senior defender.
KSC held a wide 47-14 shot advantage in the game.
Michelle Codding (Jericho, Vt.) (five saves) and Caitlin Baril
(Canton, Mass.) (three saves), who played the final 10 minutes of
the second half and the overtime saw action in goal for KSC. FSC
goalie had a busy afternoon stopping 20 Owl shots.
KSC returns home to face Williams College on Thursday (7 p.m.).
