'KEENE, N.H. 9/25/03 - The Keene State College women's field
hockey team had its three game winning streak snapped with a 5-1
non-conference loss to 16th ranked Williams College at Owl Athletic
Complex on Thursday.
Tara Boyd (New Canaan, Conn.) had two goals and an assist to
lead Williams (3-1). Keene State drops to 4-3.
Dominating play from the start, Williams took a 3-0 half-time
lead on a pair of goals by Tara Boyd and a goal by
Katherine Wilkes (New London, N.H.). KSC had a late flurry, but
Eph's goalie Jen Steinberg (Scarsdale, N.Y.) stopped consecutive
shots by Tanya Strong (Hatfield, Mass.) and Nichole Garneau (Twin
Mountain, N.H.).
Jacelyn Gregory (Greenwich, Conn.) and Molly Jennings
(Greenwich, Conn.) added second half goals for the Ephs.
KSC's Katy Pokrywka (Roxbury, Conn.) prevented the shutout with
her first goal of the season.
Michelle Codding (Jericho, Vt.) (four saves) and Caitlin Barill
(Canton, Mass. (two saves) each played a half in goal for KSC.
Steinberg with three saves and Wendy Stone (Buffalo, N.Y.) (two
saves) both saw action in goal for Williams.
KSC hosts rival Plymouth State University in a key Little East
Conference game on Saturday (1:30 p.m.).
