'MEDFORD, MASS. 1/17/04 - Keene State College men's and
women's indoor track teams combined to win nine events at the Tufts
University Invitational meet in Medford, Mass., on Saturday.
Junior Dave Bridgewater (Unionville, Conn.) and sophomore Ryan
Gough (Billerica, Mass.) posted two wins each for the Owl
men. Bridgewater raced to wins in the 600-meters (1:23.42)
and 1,000-meter (2:38.28) races. Gough topped the field in
the 800-meters (2:00.90) and 1,500-meter (4:03.27) events.
Senior Josh Ferenc (Westmoreland, N.H.) and Matt Haley
(Middleton, Mass.) placed second (8:52.78) and third (8:58.33)
respectively in the 3,000-meter race. KSC's 4x400 relay team of
Rich Brooks (Charlotte, Vt.), Dave Raymond (Princeton, Mass.),
Bridgewater, and Gough also took second with a time of 3:39.17.
KSC (124 points) finished second to host Tufts (316 points) in
the team scoring.
Junior Nicole Geyselaers (Cornwall Bridge, Conn.) led the Keene
State women's team with victories in the 55-meter dash (7.55) and
triple jump (10.67-meters). She also placed second in the long jump
(4.85-meters).
In other races, Shannon O'Brien (Tilton, N.H.) finished first in
the 600-meters (1:39.79), Laurie Yorgensen (Wethersfield, Conn.)
won the 800-meters (2:27.18), and Karen Jordan's (Enfield, N.H.)
time of 11:21.92 was the winning mark in the 3,000-meter
event.
Allison Fergione (Marlborough, Conn.), O'Brien, Jordan, and
Yorgensen teamed up to finish second (4:20.74) in the 4x400 relay.
Tufts (381.5 points) won the women's team title. KSC was
second with 104 points.
The Owls will compete next Saturday at the Dartmouth
Invitational.
