'MIDDLETOWN, CONN. 1/31/04  - Junior Dave Raymond (Princeton, Mass.) placed second in the 1,500-meter race with a New England Div. III Championship qualifying time of 4:05.02 to highlight Keene State College's participation at the Wesleyan University Invitational on Saturday in Middletown, Conn.

Teammate Matt Haley, a sophomore from Middleton, Mass., finished third in the 3,000-meter event with a time of 9:14.26.

Several Owls turned in fine performances in the women's field.  Erin Landon. A sophomore transfer from Scotland, Conn., placed third in the 600-meters (1:46.37) and fourth in the 1,000 (3:16.25).  Sophomore Jenna Jezierski (No. Grosvenordale, Conn.) was fourth in the 600 (1:47.12).

Freshman Stephanie Westcott (Bellows Falls, Vt.) took third in the 3,000-meter race (11:11.56).

In field events, junior Candace Brown placed fourth in the weight throw (39-07.00) and Ellen Banning (Hillsborough, N.H.) was fifth in the shot-put (34-10.25).

At the Boston University Terrier Classic, junior Laurie Yorgensen (Wethersfield, Conn.) had an NCAA (Div. III) provisional time (2:17.11) with her 16th place finish in the 800-meter race. 

Dave Bridgewater (Unionville, Conn.) and Josh Ferenc (Westmorland, N.H.) also raced to N.E. Division III qualifying times in the 5,000-meter race.  Bridgewater was 22nd  (14:56.92) while Ferenc was 30th (15:19.86).
