KEENE, N.H. 10/1/04 - The Keene State College volleyball team
snapped its six-game losing streak after they swept a three game
match against Westfield State College to open up Homecoming weekend
on Friday at Spaulding Gymnasium.
KSC improves to 3-7. Westfield State is now 5-5 on the season.
Keene State dominated play from the start, winning the opening
game 30-23. The final two game scores were 30-24 and 30-20.
Junior Shelly Ellis (Hampton, N.H.) led KSC's offense with 12
kills, nine digs, and one service ace. Freshman Kelly Yankowski
(Turners Falls, Mass.) dished out 28 assists, and added five digs,
while sophomore Genna Florkowski (East Northport, N.Y.) finished
with eight kills, eight digs, and two service aces.
Senior Amy Svatik (Stratford, Conn.) had 19 digs, and two
service aces; junior Lindsay Dalene (East Hartford, Conn.) added 10
kills, and freshman Kate Spriegal (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished with
five blocks to lead Westfield State College.
KSC hosts Rhode Island College for a Little East Conference game
on Tuesday (6 p.m.).
