KEENE, N.H. 11/20/04 - Joe Shaw (Concord, N.H.) had 17 points,
tournament MVP Sean Sullivan (Athol, Mass.) finished with 15
points, and Harley Davis (Newburyport, Mass.) added 10 points and a
career-high 13 rebound to lead Keene State College to a 81-69
victory over Salve Regina University in the Championship game of
the fifth Annual KSC Men's Basketball Invitational played Saturday
at Spaulding Gym.
Keene State, which has claimed all five KSC Invitational titles,
improves to 2-0.
Matt Coute (Somerset, Mass.) had 23 points and Chris Collier
finished with 15 points to lead the Seahawks (1-1).
Consecutive three-pointers by Sullivan, Erik Schlacter
(Marlborough, Mass.), and Adam Gervais (Chelsea, Me.) enabled KSC
to pull ahead 42-32 at the break. The Owls pushed their lead up to
14 (50-36) on a steal and lay-up by Ben Maynard (Nobleboro, Me.),
but the Seahawks came roaring back cutting the deficit to four
points (59-55) on a jumper by Jon Hazzard (North Kingstown, R.I.)
with 9:20 to play. They got no closer as KSC hung on for the win.
In the consolation game, Joel Davila (Miami, FL.) had a
game-high 21 points to lead Maine-Machias (9-3) to a 95-65 victory
over Fitchburg State College. Rashad Cope (Roxbury, Mass.) led the
Falcons (0-2) with 15 points and seven rebounds.
