KEENE, N.H 11/20/04 - Junior forward Stacey Morse (Lebanon,
N.H.) had 17 points and tournament MVP Sarah Begnoche (Millville,
Mass.) finished with 14 points and a career-high13 rebounds to lead
Keene State College to a 80-51 victory over Curry College in the
championship game of the 9th Annual KSC Women's Basketball
Tournament held at Spaulding Gym on Saturday. It is the eighth time
Keene State has captured its Invitational. Cathy Mechare (Falls,
Village, Conn.) also added 12 points for Keene State (2-0). Leading
36-29 at the half, the Owls used a 19-2 run to open up a commanding
55-31 advantage early in the second half.
Brandy Howard (Weymouth, Mass.) had 18 points and 14 rebounds to
lead Curry (1-1). In the consolation game, freshman forward
Christina DeLuca (Johnston, R.I.) finished with 19 points and nine
rebounds and Mandi Rapisardi (Scarborough, Me.) added 11 rebound to
lead Lasell College (1-1) to an 84-57 victory over St. Joseph's
College of Brooklyn, N.Y.(1-2), Juanita Whyms led St. Josesph's
with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
