NORTH DARTMOUTH, MASS. 2/3/04 - Freshman Katie Lunnin
(South Boston, Mass.) scored 23 points to lead the UMass-Dartmouth
women's basketball team to a 66-56 Little East Conference victory
over Keene State College in North Dartmouth on Tuesday.
KSC falls to 8-11 (3-6 LEC), while the Corsairs improve to 8-12
(4-6 LEC).
Keene State, down by just two points (31-29) returning from the
break, stayed with UMD until the last eight minutes of the
game. At the eight minute mark, the Owls trailed by three
points (52-49), but the Corsairs, led by Lunnin who shot 8-for-11
from the field, started to pull away.
"We didn't play with a consistent effort for 40 minutes," said
KSC assistant coach Eric Matte. "We haven't been able to
close out a game strong, and they beat us down the stretch."
Sophomore forward Stacey Morse (Lebanon, N.H.) scored 16 points
to lead the Owls, while Andrea Arsenault (Dover, N.H.) finished
with 14 points and nine rebounds.
Kerri Augenstein (East Greenwich, R.I.) added 11 points and six
rebounds for UMD.
Keene State will be looking to get back on the winning track
when it travels to the University of Southern Maine on Saturday (1
p.m.)
