KSC Field Hockey Falls to Skidmore College

KEENE, N.H. 9/11/04 - Skidmore College scored a pair of goals in a span of three minutes late in the second half to post a 2-0 non-conference field hockey victory over host Keene State College on Saturday.

Jessica Bergen (Wells, Vt.) put Thoroughbreds up 1-0 when she converted a pass from Alison Starrett (Athol, Mass.) at the 56:12 mark. Sarah Donahue (Winchester, Mass.) scored an insurance on a shot that found the far corner of the net.

Skidmore had the best scoring opportunities in a scoreless first half. KSC goalie Sara Joyce (Hampstead, N.H.) was up to the challenge making several key stops. Amanda Rosenbeck (Wilder, Vt.) had a chance to put the Owls on top at the 20:53 mark, but her penalty shot went to the right of the goal.

Three minutes later, Skidmore's Julie Lutz (Auburn, N.H.) also missed a penalty shot opportunity when her shot went wide left.

Joyce finished with 13 saves for the Owls (1-2), who have dropped their last two games. Megan McAdams (Caraopolis, PA) had six saves for Skidmore (3-0), which remains undefeated.

Keene State is at RPI on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
