GORHAM, ME 9/17/04 - The Keene State College women's volleyball
team notched its first Little East Conference win of the season
with a 3-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine in a
round-robin tournament held Friday night in Gorham, Me.
The game scores were 30-26, 30-21, 23-30, and 30-21.
Amanda Starkey (Center Barnstead, N.H.), a former USM player,
led KSC with 14 kills, two digs, and one block. Freshman setter
Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.) added five kills, 32
assists, one service ace, nine digs, and one block while Shelly
Ellis (Hampton, N.H.) finished with 10 kills, three assists, two
service aces, and 13 digs.
Keene State 2-1 (1-0 LEC) will play rival Plymouth State
University and defending LEC champs Western Con. on Saturday.
Southern Maine falls to 5-2 (0-1 LEC).
