GORHAM, ME. 9/18/04 - The Keene State College women's volleyball
team lost a pair of Little East Conference matches on the road at
Southern Maine on Saturday.
After dropping a tough five game match to rival Plymouth State
University 3-2 (24-30, 30-22, 30-21, 27-30, 12-15), the Owls were
swept 3-0 (30-27, 30-19, 30-12)by defending LEC champ Western Conn.
Freshman setter Kelly Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.)led KSC
against PSU with nine kills, 41 assists, one service ace, and 21
digs. Senior Stacey Kroon (Bryantville, Mass.) added 17 kills and
Shelly Ellis (Hampton, N.H.) finished the match with 19 kills, four
service aces, 33 digs, and two blocks.
Kroon topped the Owls with five kills, one dig and one block
against WCSU. Yankowski contributed three kills, 14 assists and
five digs and Lauren Graham (Port Jeferson, N.Y.)finished with four
kills, 10 digs and three assists.
KSC (2-3, 1-2 LEC) returns home for a match against Colby-Sawyer
College on Tuesday (7 p.m.).
