KSC Field Hockey Shutout by Springfield College

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 8, 2004 - Springfield College junior forward Amber Paradee (Sheldon, Vt.) tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Pride to a 3-0 shutout of Keene State this evening on Benedum Field.

Reigning New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Player of the Week Kim Stevens (Knox, Maine), a senior, put the Pride on the board with her first goal of the year at the 25:27 mark of the first half.

SC built a 2-0 halftime lead on junior Alisha Miner's (Sanbornton, N.H.) tally, assisted by Paradee, with 7:20 remaining in the period.

Paradee netted an unassisted insurance goal with 21:04 to play in the game as the Pride and first-year head coach Melissa Rogers extended their winning streak to three to open the 2004 campaign.

The game was a rematch of last season's ECAC Division III New England Tournament Championship won by the host Owls, 2-1.

Sara Joyce (Hampstead, NH) finished with five saves for the Owls, while Lindsey Pardue (Houston, TX) turned aside nine shots for the Pride.

KSC will face Skidmore College on Saturday (1:30 p.m.) at Owl Athletic Complex.
