KEENE, N.H. 1/15/05 - Kmari Williams (Springfield, Mass.) had a
game high 27 points including 16 in the second half to lead Rhode
Island College to a 91-84 victory over Keene State College in a
Little East men's basketball game played Saturday at Spaudling Gym.
It was the third loss in the last four games for KSC (7-6, 2-3
LEC). Winners of four straight, RIC improves to 10-4 and 4-1 in the
LEC.
Devon Yarborough (New Haven, Conn.) scored 20 points and Kinsey
Durgin (Greenwoood, Me.) finished with 17 points for the Anchormen.
Sean Sullivan (Athol, Mass.) led KSC with 23 points and eight
rebounds. David Sontag (Mont Vernon, N.H.) added 18 points,
including four three-pointers, and Harley Davis (Newburyport,
Mass.) finished with 14 points. Keene State took a nine point
(45-36) halftime lead behind Sullivan's 18 points.
RIC came back to take the lead for good 74-72 on a three-pointer
by Williams at the 4:34 mark. KSC closed to within three points on
a basket by Kevin Ritter (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) with 3:20 to
play. But RIC responded with back-to-back baskets by Williams and
Andre Daley (Boston, Mass.) to push the Anchormen's lead back up to
seven points. The Owls, who swept RIC last season, got no closer.
Keene State host rival Plymouth State University on Tuesday
night at 7:30 p.m.
