KEENE, N.H. 1/15/05 - Colleen Feeney (Providence, R.I.) had a
game high 20 points to lead Rhode Island College to a 59-55 victory
over Keene State College in a Little East Conference women's
basketball game played Saturday at Spaulding Gym.
Jamie Angell (Cranton, R.I.) scored 12 points and dished out
eight assists and Kari Geisler (Derry, N.H.) added 11 points for
RIC (6-9, 2-3 LEC).
Sarah Begnoche (Millville, Mass.) had 14 points and nine
rebounds to lead the Owls (9-5, 3-2 LEC). Bri Barnes (Merrimack,
N.H.) also scored 13 points for KSC. RIC, which led 27-23 at
halftime, built its lead up to eight points early in the second
half. Keene State came back to take a one point lead twice in the
half, the last time (43-42) on a jumper by Begnoche with 7:43 to
play. RIC pushed their lead back up to eight points (55-47) on a
basket by Geisler at the 3:33 mark. A jumper by Barnes closed the
gap to two points (57-55) with 51 seconds to play. KSC had a chance
to tie the game with 20 seconds to play, but Joselee Danieli (New
Gloucester, Me.) stole Bekka Hopkins' pass (Oxford, Mass.).
Danielli was fouled and hit a pair of foul shots to account for the
final score. Keene State is back at Spaulding Gym on Tuesday night
to face rival Plymouth State University in a 5:30 p.m. game.
