'KEENE, N.H. 10/13/05 - The Keene State College women's
volleyball team defeated Division II Assumption College, 3-2 in a
hard-fought five game match at Spaulding Gymnasium on Thursday
night. Game scores were 30-25, 26-30, 31-29, 22-30, and
15-11.
KSC improves to 9-8, while Assumption drops to 4-15.
Keene State and Assumption traded wins during the five-game
stretch. The Owls took the first game 30-25, but Assumption
rallied to win game two 30-26. Keene State answered winning
game three 31-29. The Greyhounds regrouped to take the night's
largest margin of victory with a 30-22 win in game four. In
the deciding fifth game, the score was knotted at 11-all before the
Owls pulled away to take a 15-11 victory.
Genna Florkowski (East Northport, N.Y.) had a career-high 34
digs, 13 kills and three service aces to lead KSC. Senior
Shelly Ellis (Hampton, N.H.) added 22 kills, 16 digs, and three
solo-blocks, while freshman Brittany O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.)
finished with 10 kills, 11 digs, and five solo-blocks.
Bethany Hordern (Swansea, Mass.) led Assumption with 36 digs,
while Lindy Dhulst (Portland, Ore.) added 31 digs, six kills, and
five service aces, and Tess Wurm (New Bedford, Mass.) finished with
21 kills.
Keene State will travel to Mass. College of Liberal Arts and
Sciences on Saturday (Noon). Assumption will host St.
Michael's the same day at Noon.
