'DORCHESTER, MASS. 10/22/05 - The Keene State College
women's volleyball team posted victories over UMass-Boston (3-0)
and UMass-Dartmouth (3-2) in Little East Conference round-robin
play at the Clark Athletic Center in Dorchester, Mass. on Sunday.
With their two wins, KSC finishes third place in the final LEC
regular season standings. It is the highest finish by
the Owls (12-9, 5-2 LEC) since joining the LEC in 1997 and the most
victories by the team in conference play. KSC will host a first
round tournament game on Tuesday Nov. 1.
The Owls swept the UMass-Boston 30-28, 30-15, 30-20.
Shelly Ellis (Hampton, N.H.) finished with 12 kills and eight digs
to lead KSC. Genna Florkowski (East Northport, N.Y.) added 10
kills and nine digs, and freshman Sarah Peterson (Danville, N.H.)
had a season-high 16 digs in the match.
Keene State won a tough five game match against UMass-Dartmouth
27-30, 30-26, 23-30, 30-19, and 15-8. Ellis had another
strong performance against the Corsairs with 16 kills and 27
digs. Brittany O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) had a fine overall
match with 14 kills, 17 digs, and three blocks while Caitlyn
Hockenbury (Sunapee, N.H.) finished with 10 kills and 29 digs.
Keene State plays its final home regular season home match on
Tuesday night against Worcester State.
