'SPRINGFIELD, MASS. 10/8/05 - The Keene State College women's
volleyball team posted a 2-1 mark at Springfield College's Tom Hay
Invitational on Saturday.
The Owls' Shelly Ellis (Hampton, N.H.) and Brittany O'Bryant
(Merrimack, N.H.) were selected to the All-Invitational team while
senior setter Adrienne Deschnow (Portland, Conn.) recorded her
1,000th career assists.
KSC dropped its first match of the day to host Springfield
College (0-3). Game scores were 28-30, 12-30, and 24-30.
Ellis and O'Bryant had five and six kills respectively and Kelly
Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.) added 12 digs.
After losing the first game of their match against Westfield
State 25-30, the Owls came back to take the next three games
(30-19, 30-22, and 30-25). Ellis had 14 kills, O'Bryant
finished with nine kills, 12 digs, and seven blocks, and Lauren
Graham (Port Jeferson, N.Y.) contributed 15 digs and four blocks.
The Owls concluded the day by sweeping Gordon College in three
close games 30-28, 32-30, and 30-23. Genna Florkowski (East
Northport, N.Y.) and Yankowski had 10 kills each while O'Bryant had
another strong match with 12 digs and seven blocks.
The Owls host Green Mountain College on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
