M. Basketball: KSC Races by Maine-Machias

'KEENE, N.H. 11/19/05 - Senior forward Sean Sullivan (Athol, Mass.) had 26 points to lead Keene State College to a 103-68 victory over the University of Maine-Machias in the second game of Saturday's KSC Tip-Off Tournament at Spaulding Gym.

 

 

The Owls (2-0) built up a big first half lead and coasted to its second victory in the tournament. 

 

 

Sullivan, who hit eight of his 12 shots from the field, had 20 first-half points to help  Keene State to a 52-33 halftime lead.  The Owls, who jumped out to an 11-2 lead, took a 30-15 lead on a lay-up by Sullivan at the 7:58 mark.  After UMM cut the lead to seven (33-26) with 3:52 to go, KSC outscored the Clippers 19-7 the rest of the half.  Anthony Licitra (Glastonbury, Conn.) hit a pair of three-pointers in the closing minute.  KSC's lead was never threatened as in the second half David Sontag (Mont Vernon, N.H.), who finished with 16 points was named the tournament's MVP, he joined Sullivan on the All-Tournament team.

 

 

Jeremiah Johnson, who finished with game-high 27 points, represented UMM on the All-Tournament team..  Phil Munro (Scarborough. Ont.) and Charles Calligan (Manchester, Me.) had 17 points each for the Clippers (0-4).

KSC hosts Endicott College on Tuesday night (7:30 p.m.).

 

 

Game #1: Colby-Sawyer Defeats Husson College 107-91

 

 

KEENE, N.H. 11/19/05 - Senior center Andrew St. Clair (Pittsfield, Me.) had a game-high 27 points and senior forward James Thorpe (Concord, N.H.) finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Colby-Sawyer College to 107-91 victory over Husson College in the first game of Saturday's 6th Annual KSC Tip-Off Tournament.

 

 

St. Clair, who was named to the All-Tournament team, scored 20 of his 27 points in the first half as the Chargers took a slim 54-52 lead into the locker room.

 

 

Colby-Sawyer pulled away from Husson midway in the second half.  With the score knotted at 73-all at the 12:59 mark, the Chargers outscored the Eagles 21-9 to take a 94-82 lead on consecutive three-pointers by Thorpe, who joined St. Clair on the All-Tournament team.

 

 

Duncan Szeliga (Newmarket, N.H.) had 13 points and Pat Kenny (Wethersfield, Conn.) finished with 12 points for CSC (2-0).

 

 

Buddy Leavitt (Guilford, Me.), who hit seven of 11 shots from the field, led Husson (0-2) with 25 points and seven rebounds.   Bill Beaureguard (Ware, Mass.) had 19 points and Tyler Muzzy (Greenville, Me.) added 13 points and seven rebounds. Named to the All-Tournament team, Jason Harvey (Bucksport, Me.) had 10 points.
