Willimantic, Conn. 4/16/05 - The Keene State College softball
team split a Little East Conferece doubleheader against Eastern
Conn. in Willimantic, Conn. on Saturday. The two teams traded
shutouts with the Owls winning the first game 4-0 and the warriors
taking the nightcap 1-0.
Picking up its first LEC win of the season, KSC goes to 16-4,
(1-3 LEC) while ECSU is 9-15 (5-1 LEC).
Meghan McLoughlin (Brattleboro, Vt.) tossed a complete four
hitter with nine strikeouts without a walk in the opener to improve
her record to 5-2.
Keene State won the the fifth straight time over Eastern.
Jennifer Norman (Penacook, N.H.) scored the only run the Owls would
need on freshman's Ashlee Nicholson's double in the first inning.
KSC added three runs in the fourth with Amanda Foote (Hudson,
N.H.), Norman, and Nicholson driving in runs.
Brooke Nici (Clinton, Mass.) pitched a complete game four hitter
in the seocnd game. Sandra Pariseau (Stratford, Conn.) drove in the
only run of the game in the fourth inning.
KSC best opportunity to score came in the seventh when Melissa
Scata (Medway, Mass.) singles and was sacrificed to second, but was
left stranded.
Keene State plays a LEC twin bill at Western Conn. on Sunday.
