'KEENE, N.H. 9/7/05 - Sophomore Brittany Veazie (Dexter,
Me.) had two goals and two assists, including the game-winner in
double-overtime to lead Springfield College to a 4-3 non-conference
field hockey victory over Keene State College at Owl Athletic
Complex on Wednesday night.
Coming down the left wing, Veazie's shot found the far corner of
the net for the winner at the 95:30 mark.
Trailing 3-2 at the half, the Owls tied the game on an
unassisted goal by Amanda Rosenbeck (Wilder, Vt.) four minutes into
the second half.
The two teams battled through two overtime periods before Veazie
scored. KSC goalie Sara Joyce (Hampstead, N.H.) finished with
14 saves, including several spectacular stops in the overtime
period to keep KSC in the game. Janna Prachniak (Lincoln, R.I.) had
six saves for the Pride (3-0),who remain undefeated.
Nichole Garneau (Twin Mountain, N.H.) and Katy Pokrywka
(Roxbury, Conn.) also scored for the Owls (1-3). Amber
Paradee (Sheldon, Vt.) and Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Me.) had the
other goals for SC.
Keene State plays its first LEC game of the season when it plays
Fitchburg State at Lunenberg (Mass.) High School on Saturday (4
p.m.).
