'DANBURY, CONN. 01/10/06 - The Keene State College women's
basketball team dropped its first Little East Conference game with
a 60-46 loss to Western Connecticut State University at Feldman
Arena in Danbury, Conn. on Tuesday night.
Stacey Morse (Lebanon, N.H.) was the only Owl to score in
double-figures with 11 points and seven rebounds. Bri Barnes
(Merrimack, N.H.) and Danielle Graveley (Schnectedy, N.Y.) finished
with nine and eight points, respectively.
The Owls' biggest lead of the game (21-16) came off of Michelle
Boudreau's (Readsboro, Vt.) jumper at the 9:48 mark of the first
half. The Colonials answered with a 21-9 run to go into the
locker room with a 37-30 advantage.
Western Conn.'s momentum continued into the second stanza,
pulling away with a 15-6 run capped off by Jessica Garvin's
(Dudley, Mass.) free throw to push the lead up to 16 (52-36) with
8:51 to play.
Stacey Roberts (Windham, Conn.) led the Colonials with 12 points
and nine rebounds.
Keene State shot just 25.5 percent from the floor and were
out-rebounded 45-30 in the game. Western Connecticut (5-7,
2-2 LEC) finished the game shooting 41.7 percent from the
floor.
KSC (8-5, 3-1 LEC) will travel to Westfield State College for a
non-conference game on Thursday (7 p.m.).
