'TROY, N.Y. 1/4/06 - The Keene State College women's basketball
team saw its record dip to 7-4 with a 66-62 non-conference loss to
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) at Robison Gym Wednesday
night in Troy, N.Y.
The Owls have dropped four of their last five games, while the
Red Hawks (5-3) post their second straight victory.
Trailing 37-30 at the break, KSC cut the deficit to one (43-42)
on a jumper by Sarah Begoche (Millville, Mass.) at the 14:54 mark,
but would get no closer.
Begnoche tallied a career-high 29 points and 16 rebounds to lead
the Owls. The junior forward shot 12-for-18 from the field in
the game. Senior forward Stacey Morse (Lebanon, NH) added 13
points and seven rebounds for Keene State.
Three players reached double figures for the Red Hawks. Kristi
Baranowski (Liverpool, N.Y.) had 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting and
11 rebounds in 27 minutes, while junior Destany Eagles (Conway, SC)
added 15 points and freshman guard Whitney Coleman (Etiwanda, CA)
finished with 11 points.
Keene State is back in action on Saturday when it hosts
UMass-Boston at 1pm. RPI returns to the court on Sunday afternoon
when it hosts Middlebury in a non-conference matchup at 2pm at
Robison Gym.
