'SPRINGFIELD, MASS. 01/05/06 - The Keene State College men's
basketball team dropped its second straight game with a 98-84
non-conference loss to Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.
Thursday night.
With the loss, the Owls fall to 8-3, while the Pride improves to
4-8.
David Sontag (Mont Vernon, N.H.) led KSC with 14 points.
Freshman Tyler Kathan (Ludlow, Vt.) had 11 points and a career-high
15 rebounds, Nate Anderson (Westminster, Mass.) chipped in with 11
points, and Sean Sullivan (Athol, Mass.) finished with 10 points to
round-out the double-figure scorers for Keene State.
Five players scored in double-figures for Springfield, including
Derek Yvon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) with a game-high 30 points,
Anthony Pizzo (Clifton Park, N.Y.) with 17, Brian Riley (Worcester,
Mass.) had 16 points and a team-high 13 rebounds, Damian Farley
(Natick, Mass.) added 12 points, and Joel Aponte (Windsor, Conn.)
finished with 10 points.
The Owls never controlled the game shooting just 36 percent from
the field in the first half to trail Springfield by 18-points
(52-34) at the break.
Keene State hopes to get back on the winning track in an LEC
game against UMass-Boston on Saturday (3 p.m.) at Spaulding Gym.
