'KEENE, N.H. 10/10/06 - Marrissa Boccaccio's (West Hartford)
goal with 4:15 to play lifted Keene State College to a 2-1
come-from-behind win over Trinity College in a non-conference field
hockey game played Tuesday night at Owl Athletic Complex.
Boccaccio drilled a shot past Bantam goalie Jillian Fraker
(Taft, Conn.) from just inside the circle for the
game-winner. Both of her two goals this season have been
game-winners. She netted the deciding goal in a 2-1 victory
over UMass-Dartmouth last Tuesday.
In the first half, Owl goalie Sara Joyce (Hampstead, N.H.)
stopped a penalty stroke by Lauren Malinowski (Longmeadow, Mass.).
However, Trinity took a 1-0 lead 54 seconds later when Christine
Mwaturura (Chisipite, Zimbabwe) swept a shot into the net at the
15:01 mark.
In the second half, Keene State tied the game on a perfectly
executed corner play. Amanda Rosenbeck took a pass from Karen
Robinson and beat Fraker for her team-leading ninth goal of the
season.
That set the stage for Boccaccio's game-winner later in the
half.
Joyce finished with 14 saves for the Owls (10-4) who have won
six out of their last seven games. Fraker stopped seven shots
for the Bantams who drop to 6-3.
It was Keene State's first win over Trinity since the 2003
season.
Both teams return to action on Saturday. Keene State
travels to Southern Maine (1 p.m.) while Trinity is home to face
Tufts (11 a.m.).
