'WORCESTER, MASS. 10/21/06 - Amanda Lowrey's (Tilton,
N.H.) netted the decisive penalty stoke goal as Keene State College
remained undefeated in Little East Conference play with a 3-2 field
hockey victory over Worcester State College on Saturday.
With the win, KSC (13-4, 10-0 LEC) extends its winning streak to
five game and clinched the top seed in the upcoming LEC
Tournament. Worcester State drops to 11-5 (7-3 LEC).
Tied 2-2 after regulation play, the two teams batted through two
scoreless overtime time periods. KSC scored on four of its
five penalty strokes chances to pull out the win. Karen
Robinson (Barre, Mass.), Amanda Rosenbeck (Wilder, Vt.), Alyssa
Rowell (Queensbury, NY) along with Lowrey scored on their
respective penalty strokes.
Trailing 2-0 after the first half, the Owls sent the game into
overtime on second half goals by Kat Trimmer (Worcester, Mass.) and
Sam Blanchard (Amesbury, Mass.). Blanchard's goal was her
fist of the season.
Sara Joyce finished the game with seven saves for the Owls.
The Owls are off until Friday when they host St. Joseph's
(Maine) in a 6 p.m. game.
