'BRIDGEWATER, MASS. 10/27/06 - The Keene State College women's
volleyball team won a pair of non-conference matches at the
Bridgewater State Halloween Classic on Friday night.
The Owls (23-10) needed five games to defeat Salve Regina
University 3-2 (26-30, 30-15, 25-30, 30-20, 15-10). Freshman
Mia Silvestri (Herrick Center, Pa.) had a career high 18 kills and
three block in the match. Jordan Pokryfki (Wasilla, Alaska)
added 49 assists and three blocks, Brittany O'Bryant (Merrimack,
N.H.) contributed 21 kills, six block, and 35 digs, and Kelly
Yankowski (Turners Falls, Mass.) finished with 16 kills and 21
digs.
In its second match, KSC swept Hunter College of New York 3-0
(30-11, 31-29 30-24). O'Bryant led the Owls with 18
kills. Yankowski had a fine overall match with 14 kills and
12 digs and Pokryfki finished with 32 assists and eight digs.
With the two wins, KSC moves into the winners bracket of the
tournament and will begin play at noon on Saturday.
