'DUDLEY, MASS. 09/2/06 - Senior forward Steph Georgevits
(Concord, N.H.) had two goals and an assist to lead Keene State to
a 5-0 shutout victory over Nichols College in non-conference field
hockey action in Dudley, Mass. on Saturday.
It was the first win of the season for KSC (1-1) while Nichols
falls to 0-1.
Nichole Garneau (Twin Mountain, N.H.) and freshman Amanda
Wirzbicki (Gardner, Mass.) gave the Owls a 2-0 halftime lead.
KSC scored three goals in a span of three minutes late in the
game. Georgevits scored a pair and Jess Mirisola (Tewksbury,
Mass.) also found the back of the net.
Goalies Sara Joyce (Hampstead, N.H.) and Vikki Stoessel (Derry,
N.H.) had two saves each and Jennifer McDougal (Avon, Conn.)
combined on the shutout. MaryKate Bednarz stopped six shots
for the Bison.
Keene State plays at Springfield College on Wednesday (7 p.m.).
